Alexander Kabakov woke up famous one day in 1988, after the publication of his story "Defector". Since then, fame has not left him. The works included in the new book represent all the genres in which the author works, except for satire - it is always inherent in his writings. This is a thriller ("Blow to blow"), and a memory of a stylish youth (Cafe "Youth"), and a melodrama with elements of dystopia ("The Pretender"), and social fiction ("Oil, comma, canvas"). As Alexander Kabakov says, it is read by "an intelligent townswoman, a tortured teacher, an engineer and her husband, if he exists; a manes, now, perhaps, gone into a small business."
