In the novel "He builds, she builds, I build a HOUSE" the picture of life in Leningrad in the fifties and sixties is seen through the eyes of a child - at first five years old, then older, and so on until graduation. The eyes of a child are an interesting tool for perceiving the world, for a child enters any house and can see both the king and the beggar naked. The heroine of the novel does not just contemplate life, but grows with the city. The world of the people around her becomes the building material for the growth of her personality. The peculiarity of the nature of the heroine is that she takes responsibility for the imperfection of the world very early on her shoulders and longs to harmonize both the world and her drunken neighbor with her whole being.
The novel has lain on the table for thirty years. The paper on which it was written had long since acquired the noble yellowness of an old manuscript. The author believes that the time has come for the novel to meet those for whom it was created.
