The End of a Chapter, Galsworthy's last work, consists of three parts: "The Girl Waits", "The Desert in Bloom" and "To the Other Shore".
The plot of the first part is the struggle of the main character Dinny Cherrel to save her brother from the impending trial.
The central conflict of the second part is the struggle between "old" England and that part of its youth, which in the trenches of the First World War lost the illusion of the justice of bourgeois civilization.
The third part is the history of the divorce proceedings of Sister Dinnie Claire Corven. Here the author returns to the problem of bourgeois marriage as a form of property raised by him in the Forsyte Saga.
