The book presents different views on the events of the Civil War in Russia: a well-known writer, a former officer of the Russian army who became a member of the White movement and modern historians. A.T. Averchenko (1881-1925) satirically describes the political life and life of Russians during the years of the revolution and the "Red Troubles". The hero of autobiographical stories V.V. Korsaka (real name Zavadsky; 1884-1944) by the will of revolutionary events ends up in Belarus, and then in Ukraine, where during the Civil War the interests of the leaders of the White movement, the Bolsheviks, Ukrainian nationalists, Austro-German, French and British military clashed. The essay "Between the Reds and the Whites" is a historical analysis of the events that took place in Ukraine after October 1917.
