The proposed chronicle "The life and work of K.S. Stanislavsky" is the most complete source for studying the multifaceted activity of the great reformer of theatrical art, exceptional in its artistic and social significance. The sources of the chronicle were: 1) the works of K.S. Stanislavsky, literature about the Art Theater, memoirs, periodicals and other publications containing documentary materials about Stanislavsky; 2) unpublished materials - Alekseev family correspondence, letters from correspondents of the Art Theater and its studios, notebooks of Stanislavsky, Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, V.V. Luzhsky and others, diaries of rehearsals and performances, minutes and transcripts of meetings and meetings, director's copies, memoirs and many other documents stored in the Moscow Art Theater Museum, as well as in the Central State Archive of Literature and Art, in the State Central Theater Museum named after A.A. Bakhrushin, in the State Central Museum of Musical Culture named after M.I. Glinka. Many documents were provided for the annals by K.K. Alekseeva-Falk The first volume covers the period from 1863 to 1905. The second volume covers the period from 1906 to 1915. The third volume covers the period from 1916 to 1926.
