The album is dedicated to the work of the famous painter and graphic artist, the founder of critical realism in Russian fine art P.A. Fedotov (1815 - 1852), the author of such wonderful works as "The Major's Matchmaking", "The Widow", "The Players". The introductory article provides an outline of life and creativity, which is considered by the author in connection with the main historical and cultural issues of the 40s of the 19th century, as well as with the general patterns of European artistic development. The illustrative series contains about one hundred and thirty reproductions of the artist’s main works.
