The panorama-lithograph of Nevsky Prospekt was published in 1830-1835 by Andrei Mikhailovich Prevost (1801-1867).
The author of the watercolor original of the Panorama is the serf artist Vasily Semenovich Sadovnikov (1800-1879). The main theme of his work is the theme of St. Petersburg, inspired by love for the city, the desire to comprehend and convey its complex and changeable image.
A distinctive feature of the artist is the ability to see St. Petersburg not only in the exquisite lines of its strict architecture, but also in the vibrant life of noisy streets, in the cries of peddlers and lamplighters, in the movement of a diverse crowd and carriages.
A brilliant draftsman and subtle colorist, Sadovnikov left a large artistic legacy (currently there are about a thousand of his drawings and watercolors in museums and private collections).
The first part of the Panorama of Nevsky Prospekt was executed seven years before Sadovnikov was awarded the title of artist, and the entire work gives an idea of the early period of creativity of this talented serf nugget.
Reproduction of lithographs was performed by I. Ivanov and P. Ivanov.
Text and publication of the album by I.G. Kotelnikova, appendices to the album - Yu.M. Denisova.
The application consists of three parts: Panorama of Nevsky Prospect of the 40s of the 18th century, Plan of the capital city of St. Petersburg in 1753, Panorama of Nevsky Prospect of the 70s of the 18th century, Panorama of Nevsky Prospect of the 70s of the 20th century. p>
