For the first time in Russian, the novel by E.-E. Schmitt How I Was a Work of Art. In the center of the story is the famous avant-garde artist Zeus-Peter Lama, according to his own statement, "the greatest artist and sculptor of our time." He creates a sculpture from a living person, depriving him of his freedom and all human rights. But what happens if he dares to fall in love? In essence, this work is written in Schmitt's favorite genre of philosophical parable. In the manner of Voltaire's "The Innocent", the author looks at contemporary art, where there are enough charlatans, and, bringing the comic to the grotesque, innocently declares that the king is naked, along the way exposing art critics, for whom creative genius is associated with hype in the press.
