Прощание Зельба

For the first time in Russian, a series of three detectives by Bernhard Schlink, the author of the famous "Reader", is published. "Selb's Farewell" is a new novel about the private detective Gerhard Selb, who has aged a little, but has not lost a grain of his tart humor and masculine charm. A chance acquaintance on the road with the owner of a respectable private bank brings Selb a new, apparently not burdensome, order: he will have to find the trail of the so-called unspoken partner of the bank, lost after the war. An ordinary archival investigation grows into a serious story with financial scams and money laundering, murder and kidnapping, dark spots in the past and mafia showdowns in the present. Not every young investigator can do this, but Selb is not used to stopping halfway, even if this case threatens to put an end not only to his career, but also to his life.
