The general reader is well aware of the name of one of the leading Estonian writers Vladimir Beekman, the author of many poetry collections and novels "Transit Passenger", "Night Pilots", "Year of the Donkey".
The writer's new novel "And a Hundred Deaths" tells about the first difficult weeks of the Great Patriotic War. Its action takes place partly in Estonia, partly in the Pskov region, where the 22nd Territorial Rifle Corps of the Red Army, created on the basis of the former Estonian army, took its first unequal battle with regular German troops.
The author writes about the dedication and loyalty to military duty of the overwhelming majority of soldiers and officers of the formation, about the birth of true internationalism in the fire of battles.
