Chernetsov G.G. and N.G. (Chernetsov G.G., Chernetsov N.G.) Travel along the Volga. Drawings by the authors M Mysl 1970 192 p., ill. hardcover, enlarged format.
The Chernetsov brothers - Grigory Grigorievich and Nikanor Grigorievich - made Russia's first "artistic journey" along the Volga, discovered in it an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists and, with their numerous landscapes and sketches of Volga cities, set the "unspeakable beauty" of the Russian land on a par with the classic beauties of East and West. The book by Russian artists, masters of picturesque landscape Nikanor and Grigory Chernetsov describes their journey along the Volga in 1838. The journey took place in a specially equipped workshop boat from Rybinsk to Astrakhan. In addition to travel notes, the publication contains drawings by the authors with images of places, architectural monuments, archaeological finds, a map of the scenic journey and their “Appendices to memories from a trip along the Volga”.
A book, in addition to the pleasure of reading, should also bring aesthetic pleasure. "Journey along the Volga" coped with this task perfectly. On thick ivory-colored pages, miniatures made by the authors in pen, watercolor and sepia look beautiful. Plus the text font is also sepia.
