Nerlin has been living in Estonia for a long time, but his language is fresh and not stuffed with Soviet or old-fashioned “preservatives”. Nerlin's main poetic technique is fresco writing. A clear contour, soft tones, transparent, almost geometric planes. Such poems as "Diktat", "Neringa", "Chronograph", "Doctor Korchak", "Eternal Now" pleasantly excite the imagination with violations of inertial rhythms and meanings. “The Holy Fool”, “Soldier of the Empire”, “Storm in the Crimea” are written in a slightly different manner - there is more expression and sound than graphics. Neil Nerlin writes a lot and by adulthood, as if he had found a “third heart”.
