Konstantin Sergeevich Stanislavsky is one of those few whose influence on the theatrical art of the 20th century cannot be overestimated.
A great actor, director and reformer, and most importantly, a Great Teacher, he largely determined the development of theater in in the coming century.

In the book, Stanislavsky talks about his long journey in art - the path from modest home performances of young people to the heights of acting and directing skills, to the world fame of the Moscow Art Theater he created. He describes numerous performances and the process of their creation. The book contains magnificent literary portraits of Stanislavsky's associates in the Art Theater and many other figures of Russian and foreign culture - A. Chekhov and M. Gorky, M. Maeterlinck and G. Hauptmann, A. Duncan.
Stanislavsky speaks with the reader on an equal footing, he shares his difficulties with him, talks a lot and with humor about his own mistakes and teaches - smartly, unobtrusively, kindly.
