The book “The Armenian Battalion named after I. Baghramyan and the Ethnic Cleansing of Georgians in Abkhazia” was published in Tbilisi. According to the book's author, Bondo Arveladze, "the book describes facts testifying to the participation of the Armenian battalion of Baghramyan, created by the Abkhazian separatists, in the destruction of Georgians." This is reported by Trend agency. “The Baghramyan detachment actively participated in the provocative war of 1992-93 against the Georgians, as well as the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Georgians, for which the Armenian side not only did not apologize to the Georgians, but, on the contrary, makes various claims, which crosses all the boundaries of ethics and morality and international law,” said Bondo Arveladze. The author of the book said that he had repeatedly appealed to the spiritual and secular leaders of Armenia, including the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and the President of the country Robert Kocharyan, with a proposal to apologize for the actions of the Armenians in Abkhazia, since the Bagramyan battalion was notable for its particular cruelty against the Georgians, but so and received no response. “Silence is equal to supporting the genocide and ethno-cleansing of the century, in which the Abkhaz Armenians took part,” he stressed and added that “Georgians are the people who have the decisive word in preserving the Armenian people.” Arveladze stressed that the book is of particular importance and tells about the atrocities committed by the Armenian diaspora of Abkhazia. “This fact indicates that wherever there is an Armenian diaspora, one can expect similar activity in the implementation of the genocide of the local indigenous population, and this is confirmed by more than one fact in world history,” the author of the book states.
