The Sea Wolf (1904) is a captivating adventure novel, behind the external features of the sea romance of which one must see its ideological essence - the struggle against Nietzscheism, a fiery criticism of militant individualism.
Captain Wulf Larsen is a “strong man” in the Nietzschean sense of the word, who has established a tyrannical regime on his ship, suffers a deep and complete moral defeat, pays with his life for his actions, dictated by contempt for other people, based on blind faith in himself as an exceptional person.
Larsen aptly criticizes bourgeois society, but it is obvious that he himself is an ugly product of this society.
The collection also includes two cycles of northern stories by Jack London - "Smoke Bellew" and "Smoke and the Kid".
