Classified as "bourgeois", for a long time the work of Igor Severyanin (Igor Vasilyevich Lotarev) (1887-1941) remained inaccessible to the modern reader. However, even V. Bryusov welcomed his arrival in poetry. Released in 1913, the collection "The Thundering Cup" (with a foreword by F. Sologub) went through seven editions in two years. I. Severyanin made a number of formal innovations in the Russian language. Some of the word formations he created entered Russian speech. The poet invented a number of poetic forms: diesel, a garland of triplets, a square of squares, a minionet, etc., and was engaged in translations from European languages. By the will of fate, being in exile in Estonia, the poet was deeply worried about the impossibility of returning to his homeland, creating many beautiful works on this topic. The poems of I. Severyanin were set to music by A. Vertinsky, M. Bagrinovsky, N. Golovanov, S. Rakhmaninov and others. The book includes selected poems from 1907 to 1940, published during the life of the poet, including two large cycles "Medallions and Adriatic.
