More info

The book contains name-family lists of all special settlers (alphabetical order) deported from the territory of the KBASSR from March 8, 1944 to September 15, 1949, with reference data. The area where the family was sent is indicated, as well as information about the state of each migrant (alive, dead) at the time of rehabilitation in 1957. To the reader In the life of peoples, as well as states, there are bright and dark periods. More than half a century ago, when the fire of war engulfed the country, all the Balkars were accused of betrayal and expelled. Some representatives of other peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria were deported. Time put everything in its place - the state brought official apologies to the resettled peoples. At all times, wars, to a greater or lesser extent, divided not only peoples, but also individual families, forcing brother to brother, father to son with weapons, tearing apart the hearts of their relatives and friends. This is drama. But when their innocent relatives are judged for brothers, fathers and sons, the drama develops into a universal tragedy. No one is able to raise the dead, but it is the duty of the living to keep the memory of them alive. A man is alive as long as he is remembered. Peoples that have lost their historical roots disappear. Monuments on the graves are erected not only in the name of the dead, but also for the sake of the living. Let this book become a gravestone for those thousands of special settlers who left this world. The first of them remained unburied at the embankment of the railway track at nameless stop-stations, others perished in the snow-covered feather-grass steppes of Kazakhstan and in the sultry deserts of Central Asia, and the third found their last refuge on the land of their ancestors. Let this book serve the cause of unification and mutual understanding of peoples. Removing the veil from the past, we open a view of the future. May peace and happiness enter your house with the names of ancestors and contemporaries. B. Temukuev February 17, 1997 Nalchik
