"Our Contemporary" is a magazine of Russian writers. Published in Moscow since 1956. Editor-in-Chief - Stanislav Kunyaev.

Main directions: modern prose and patriotic journalism. The most significant achievements of “Our Contemporary” are associated with the so-called “village prose”. Since the beginning of the 70s, the magazine has published works by F. Abramov, V. Astafiev, V. Belov, S. Zalygin, V. Likhonosov, E. Nosov, V. Rasputin, V. Soloukhin, V. Shukshin. The high traditions of the prose of “Our Contemporary” in the 90s were continued by the publications of I. Golovkina, V. Lichutin, Y. Loschits, L. Borodin, V. Krupin, A. Likhanov, A. Segen.

Since the second half of the 80s, journalism has become the leading genre of the magazine. With B. Yeltsin coming to power, the magazine stood in opposition to his course, considering it pro-Western, leading to the destruction of Russia and the death of the Russian people. Among the most active exponents of this point of view are leading publicists S. Kara-Murza, V. Kozhinov, M. Lobanov, K. Myalo, I. Shafarevich. A. Kazintsev’s “Diary of a Contemporary” became an impressive chronicle of the Russian tragedy, in which, since 1991, the most pressing problems of national life have been analyzed.

"Our Contemporary" is a tribune of the most prominent patriotic politicians. Articles by S. Baburin, S. Glazyev, G. Zyuganov, N. Kondratenko, N. Ryzhkov, A. Tuleyev were repeatedly published on its pages. Of particular importance for the formation of the magazine’s ideological position was the collaboration with Metropolitan John, in particular, the publication of his fundamental work “The Triumph of Orthodoxy.”

A distinctive feature of the magazine “Our Contemporary” is its widest coverage of the life of modern Russia. This is largely achieved through the active involvement of writers from the provinces. Approximately half of the materials in each issue were created in deep, indigenous Russia.
