More info

Vasily Pavlovich Zubov (1900–1963) is an outstanding Russian thinker, historian of science and art critic, who went down in the history of the humanities in Russia as the “Russian Leonardo” due to the depth and versatility of his scientific interests. His studies of the work of Aristotle, Alberti, Leonardo da Vinci, medieval scholastics (Orem, Buridan, Bradvardin) became classics. During the life of the author, a small part of his scientific and religious-philosophical heritage was published. In fact, only in recent years - thanks to the emergence of new publications from the scientist's archive - it has become possible to fully assess the scale of the personality, the diversity of V.P. Zubov. This volume includes research from the archive of the scientist, devoted to various issues of the history of ancient, medieval and modern European science and philosophy: "Naturphilosophical views of Goethe", "Ancient metrics and ancient teachings about the pulse", "From the history of chemical terminology", "On some mathematical works Nicholas Oresme", "Space and time in the Parisian nominalists of the XIV century". Most of the materials are published in Russian for the first time.
