Jerusalem is the dream of many. Now this dream is feasible: over the past decade, thousands of Russians have visited the Holy Land. And in the recent past... On July 18, 1990, on the day of finding the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh, journalist Natalia Sukhinina came out of the gates of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. She had a long way to go. Walking to Jerusalem. For a pilgrim of Tsarist Russia, this path was not unusual. But in 1990, the pilgrimage from Russia to Israel was impossible for a mere mortal: there were no diplomatic relations between Israel and our country, there was not even an embassy in Israel, only a consular group.
Natalia Sukhinina at the time worked for Rabochaya Tribuna, a newspaper of the Central Committee of the CPSU. And now the heading "Road to the Temple" appears in the party printed organ. During her journey, Natalia Sukhinina sent travel essays to the newspaper, which were read by the whole country, and people responded with millions of letters.
The book "The Road That Became Destiny" is based on travel essays written by Natalia Sukhinina during her hiking trip to Jerusalem. The book also includes some essays about the Holy Land, written by the author later.
