The author proves that I.F. Kruzenshtern was the real head of the first Russian round-the-world expedition from the very beginning, and opposes the opinion about the leadership of N.P. Rezanov, which was allegedly taken from him by Kruzenshtern during the voyage.

The first Russian round-the-world expedition (1803-1806) was generally quite successful, but its results could have been much higher if there had not been a serious conflict over the leadership of the expedition between Chamberlain N.P. Rezanov and captain I.F. Krusenstern. The conflict was caused by conflicting instructions issued by Emperor Alexander I.
Almost all officers and even many scientists were involved in the confrontation between Rezanov and Krusenstern, which could not but affect the results of the expedition. At the end of the expedition, Alexander I, who confirmed the initial leadership of Krusenstern in the expedition, ordered him to consign disputes with Rezanov to oblivion, therefore I.F. Kruzenshtern never wrote about this.
In the proposed book, the author, based on many years of research, talks about the relationship between Kruzenshtern, Rezanov and other participants in the voyage, analyzing archival documents, diary entries of eyewitnesses and other materials on the history of Russia in the late XVIII - early XIX century.
