Volume 1. From the history of Russian and Soviet theater

The first volume includes articles and research by P.A. Markov on Russian pre-revolutionary and Soviet theater. Of great value are the works devoted to the art of the oldest Russian theaters - the Maly and Alexandriysky, the book "The Newest Theater Trends", articles about Nekrasov, Ostrovsky, Komissarzhevskaya. For the first time, lectures on pre-revolutionary theater, on Vakhtangov, and excerpts from the book “Soviet Theater” are published.

The second volume of selected works by P.A. Markov “On the Theater” consists of literary portraits of figures of Russian and Soviet theater. The third volume of selected works by P.A. Markov includes reviews of performances, articles on both private and fundamental issues of theatrical life, stage culture and craftsmanship, includes sketches of individual works by luminaries of Russian art, and provides detailed seasonal reviews of Moscow theater life, creates a complete picture of the processes taking place in the cultural life of the country.
