The authors of the introductory articles are B. Pokrovsky and Yu. Grigorovich. The album consists of color photographs of opera and ballet soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR. In this book, the reader will see photographs of artists of the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR of that generation that was lucky enough to celebrate the bicentenary of the oldest and largest Russian musical theater. This generation is the heir to the wonderful traditions created by Russian artists of the past; it continues the aesthetic trends that were laid by the artists and directors who began and developed the socialist art of the Bolshoi Theater in the first decades of Soviet power.

(Dietmar Gerhard Stüdemann)
