Москва на старинных открытках

Moscow has existed for eight and a half centuries. A small village that arose among forests and rivers grew into the capital of the largest state, which became the focus of the greatest achievements of the material and spiritual culture of the Russian people.

Images of the ancient capital, merchant Moscow and Moscow of the capitalist era on old postcards form an integral ensemble, in much is now lost. The further the past depicted on postcards moves away from us, the more valuable it becomes. A resident of a modern city with its unjustifiably deformed urban planning structure evokes a feeling of nostalgic sadness by the views of the old, as we often imagine, patriarchal and good Moscow, still living according to the laws of harmony, naturalness and beauty.

The postcards presented in this album are only a small part of the extensive collection collected by lovers of Moscow antiquity Vitaly Tsarin and Igor Korovin.

Dates up to January 1918 are given in the old style, subsequent ones - in the new style. The dates of some events have been clarified and therefore may differ from encyclopedic sources.
