History of Tallinn from the beginning of the 60s of the 19th century to 1970. After 1870, when capitalist production relations were finally established in Estonia and the Baltic Railway was opened, the economic life of Tallinn began to rise. The railway connected Tallinn with western and central Russia, and in the following decades, through Tartu, also with Riga and Pskov. Good communication with the internal provinces of Russia, in turn, increased the role of maritime transport. The growth of trade created favorable conditions for the development of industry. Thus, a whole complex of factors gradually developed that determined the growth of the city, the formation of a complex social organism of Tallinn. This collection tells about the life of Tallinners under capitalism and socialism. The authors tried to highlight all the most important aspects of the life of the city. The book is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Tallinn from the fascist invaders. Translated from Estonian by E. Epik, T. Verkhoustinsky.
