The book widely shows the struggle that Russian soldiers began in France shortly after the February Revolution in Russia, demanding that they be sent to their homeland. This struggle ended tragically for the Russian soldiers. In September 1917, in the French camp La Curtin, on the orders of the Provisional Government of Russia and the reactionary French government, a cruel reprisal was perpetrated against the soldiers of the 1st Russian brigade, who refused to continue participating in hostilities and demanded that they be sent to Russia. More than three thousand people were killed, and the rest were sent to prisons and camps. The author paints a vivid picture of the struggle of Russian soldiers against the continuous attempts of the Russian command in France and the French authorities to use them at the front as part of various "volunteer" and national legions, in military work in the rear, in the mines and mines of North Africa.
