This edition combines the first and second books of A. Chakovsky's widely known novel "Blockade". The action of the first book "Blockade" begins on the eve of the Great Patriotic War. The author reveals the root causes of the monstrous war imposed by German fascism on the Soviet people. The reader becomes a witness to the careful and difficult preparation of the party and the Soviet government to repulse the danger hanging over our country. The war inevitably invades the peaceful everyday life of millions of Soviet people, such as the heroes of the novel "Blockade" - Leningrad students Vera Koroleva and Anatoly Valitsky, like their fathers, the worker Ivan Korolev and the sculptor Valitsky, such as military personnel Pavel Korolev and Zvyagintsev. The second book of the novel refers to July and August 1941, when heavy fighting is going on on the outskirts of Leningrad. The first tests of heroes for courage and loyalty to the Motherland, events in the widest interconnection - from tense meetings at the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander to the organization of the people's militia - constitute the plot content of the "Blockade" - a multifaceted narrative about the heroic deed of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War.
