More info

The name of Christian Rakovsky, former USSR ambassador in London and Paris, deputy commissar of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the USSR, member of the Central Committee of the RCP (b) and the Executive Committee of the Comintern, has been erased from our history for more than 50 years and only in recent years has become known to the Soviet reader. The French historian Francis Comte in his book acquaints readers with the last period of the life of X. Rakovsky, when he represented the Republic of Soviets outside of it, and then turned from a hero of the revolution into its "enemy" and was destroyed in Stalin's dungeons. The work used a huge number of documents, monographs, articles, materials from the archives of the foreign ministries of England and France, the personal archives of many political figures, the personal correspondence of Rakovsky and Trotsky, as well as records of conversations with people who personally knew Rakovsky.
