“Young Naturalist” is a monthly Soviet and Russian popular science magazine for schoolchildren about wildlife, touching on issues of natural history, biology and ecology.

Founded in 1928 on the initiative of the director of the Moscow station “Young Naturalists” B.V. Vsesvyatsky, in July of the same year the first issue of the magazine was published under the name “Leaflets of the Biostation of Young Naturalists.”

The magazine was not published from 1942 to 1955.

In some years, the magazine's circulation reached almost 4 million copies.

Among the stated goals of the publication is to instill in children and adolescents a love for the Motherland and nature, and to provide them with knowledge of biology and ecology in an interesting, fascinating form. You can send your drawings and poems to the magazine. There was a competition for young naturalists.

M. M. Prishvin, V. K. Arsenyev, K. G. Paustovsky, V. V. Bianki, V. V. Chaplina[3], V. P. Astafiev, V. A. published their articles in the magazine Soloukhin, I. I. Akimushkin and other writers, I. V. Michurin, K. A. Timiryazev, V. A. Obruchev, P. A. Manteifel, N. N. Plavilshchikov, V. K. Rakhilin and other scientists and popularizers of science.
