In 1970 F. Nasedkin's story "The Great Hungry People" was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize. This work is autobiographical. But, according to its author, "this is not so much an autobiography of life as an autobiography of my generation, which organized the first Komsomol cells in the countryside, waged a deadly struggle against the kulaks, and, under the leadership of the Party, turned the village of individual farmers onto the path of collectivization."

"The Great Hungry Men" continues the story "Red Chernozem". It has the same main characters, but the time of action is already different: the beginning of the 30s, collectivization, the most acute period of the class struggle in the countryside.
