More info

The novel by the famous Hungarian prose writer Ferenc Karinty, winner of the Kossuth Prize and twice winner of the Attila Jozsef Literary Prize, tells about the final period of the Second World War and the liberation of Budapest by Soviet troops.
The author writes with love and sympathy about Soviet soldiers and officers who in the spring of 1945 brought the long-awaited liberation from the Nazi occupation to the Hungarian people.
The stories included in the book help to understand the life of pre-war Hungary under the most cruel Horthy regime, show the growth of self-awareness of the best representatives of the Hungarian people, who break with the past and become active fighters for a new life.
The book is designed for the mass reader.
