The State Central Theater Museum named after A. A. Bakhrushin is a unique phenomenon of Russian culture. The museum was founded in the mid-90s of the 19th century. private collection of the famous Moscow industrialist and philanthropist Alexei Aleksandrovich Bakhrushin (1865-1929). Today, the museum’s funds contain more than one and a half million exhibits: sketches of costumes and scenery by outstanding masters of stage design, photographs and portraits, stage costumes of great actors, programs and posters for performances, rare publications on theatrical art, objects of decorative and applied art and much more. The theater collection has become one of the most valuable museum collections in modern Russia - it presents works by Bakst, Golovin, Kustodiev, Dobuzhinsky, Korovin, Yuon, Roerich, Tatlin, Ekster, Rodchenko, Popova and other outstanding masters. A wide variety of exhibitions are held in the main building of the museum and its numerous branches.
