Despite the quietness of his lifetime fame, Henrykas Radauskas is one of the main Lithuanian poets of the 20th century. Fully sharing the historical fate of his generation, he, however, did not let it into poetry, remaining a staunch supporter and unsurpassed practitioner of "pure poetry". Critics have repeatedly scolded him for his "unprincipledness", while calling him "the most European" of Lithuanian poets. The book introduces Radauskas to the Russian-speaking reader for the first time as a separate edition. The main text is a bilingual collection of poems, which included most of his poetic heritage. The appendix was compiled with the aim of fitting the poet's biography into the historical context of pre-war Lithuania and post-war emigration. It includes an interview, notes selected from the author's letters, as well as memoirs and diaries of his friends and relatives, a small biographical guide and the necessary comments.
