On her way to work at a charity clinic in the morning, Dr. Grace Chandler discovers the corpse of a brutally murdered Afghan girl in a dumpster. By a strange coincidence, the investigation is entrusted to Grace's beloved, Detective Inspector Jeff Rickman. The Liverpool police have not yet had time to find out the name of the deceased, as four people from the East are burned alive, then they kill a Lithuanian who is about to receive a residence permit. The killer acts impudently and in the end "hangs" a crime on the inspector, which he, of course, did not commit. Is it possible for a simple maniac to do this, or is it much worse?
