Carabinieri inspector Guarnaccia investigates the kidnapping of Countess Brunamonti, a former famous American model. It turns out that Olivia Brunamonti was kidnapped by mistake. The real target of the bandits was her daughter Katerina, for whom her mother would lay out any money. But the daughter refuses to pay the ransom for her mother, thereby signing her death warrant. She considers herself and her brother true aristocrats who rightfully own the family property, although their mother founded a fashion house and bought the family nest, the Brunamonti Palace, with honestly earned money, paying off the debts of her husband, revelers and spenders. Guarnaccia risks his life and career trying to save Olivia.
