The first edition of the classic translation of the Book of Changes, made by Yu.K. Shchutsky (1897-1938). The actual translation is preceded by research unsurpassed to this day. The work undertaken by the author about 80 years ago to translate, study and interpret the `I Ching` continues to be unique in our country and unsurpassed in the West. The monograph `Chinese Classical Book of Changes` was brilliantly defended by the author in 1937 as a doctoral dissertation. After defending his dissertation, the manuscript was submitted to the LO Publishing House of the USSR Academy of Sciences, but on August 3, 1937, Yu.K. Shchutsky was arrested. The manuscript of the monograph was returned to the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, in whose archive it sat safely until the end of the 1950s. In 1960, after the rehabilitation of the author and thanks to the efforts of N.I. Konrad, it was published in an edition of 1400 copies. In 1979, the book by Yu.K. Shchutsky was translated into English and published by prominent specialists (in particular, G. Wilhelm, a recognized translator of the I Ching into German), first in the USA and then in England, which was evidence of the recognition of its great scientific significance. Shutsky. To Yu.K. Shchutsky `none of the Europeans made an attempt to start solving such an exceptionally difficult task.` Editor's preface (N.I. Konrad), bibliographic information about Yu.K. Shchutsky, author's notes, editor's notes, appendices, index of terms, index of names and titles of works. Circulation: 1400 copies. Good condition d-albums
