The classic Lenormand deck is the deck of the legendary soothsayer and fortune teller, called the French Sibyl - Marie Lenormand, who was not only known for her accurate predictions, but also had the ability for deep analysis. After studying Etteila's writings, she redesigned a regular deck of cards because she believed that the existing meanings did not reveal all the necessary aspects of foresight. A natural gift combined with an extraordinary intellect allowed her to create a new, unlike any known, deck of playing cards, which acquired its own philosophy and was filled with content that allows you to look at many issues differently. In this deck, each card corresponds to an animal, plant, phenomenon, person or place. Here everything is clear intuitively, since the meaning of each card is identified with the image and thereby further explained. The most important feature of the deck is that there are not only “bad” and “good” cards, but also neutral ones, the interpretation of which depends on those adjacent to them. Since Lenormand attached great importance to combinations of cards, it is recommended to consider the result as the totality of the entire layout, and not the meanings of specific cards.
