Meer Axelrod (1902-1970) - Soviet artist known for his watercolors and graphics. Many of the artist's paintings are devoted to scenes from the life of Russian Jews, the Ghetto series (1968-1969), the In the Steppe series are based on impressions from a trip to an agricultural Jewish commune in the Crimea in 1930-1931. Axelrod's work was highly appreciated by the poet Arseniy Tarkovsky. He wrote: “This is a wonderful example of how profitable it is to be an honest and pure person ... You can clearly see what wonderful fruits it brings, how expensive is what is done by people of this kind who, with truly holy stubbornness, with an iron will, make their way through everything barriers." The works of Meer Axelrod are kept in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. This edition is a richly illustrated album, which includes reproductions of the best works of the artist.
