Georgy Lanin is the literary pseudonym of Georgy Georgievich Permyakov (1917-2005), Russian Soviet prose writer, local historian, translator from Chinese and Japanese. Born in the city of Nikolsk-Ussuriysk (now Ussuriysk). His father is a manufacturer and owner of a pharmacy chain, his mother is a pillar noblewoman. After the end of the Civil War, he left for Harbin with his family. In 1939, he joined the Soviet consulate in Harbin and worked as a translator and teacher of languages. Received Soviet citizenship. In 1945, he left for Khabarovsk, where he served as a personal interpreter for the last Chinese emperor, Pu Yi, in a camp for high-ranking prisoners of war. In 1946 he took part in the Tokyo Trial as a senior translator. After Pu Yi was transferred to China, Permyakov stayed in Khabarovsk. He taught oriental languages.
He is the author of numerous journal articles and several books. This edition presents the action-packed detective stories "Diamond Island", "Mask", as well as a cycle of stories about China, written by the author under his real name. This is Lanin's second book out of five planned in the series. The publishing house is preparing other works of the writer for release.
