Мифология и верования нивхов

The book comprehensively characterizes the main points of the religious and mythological ideas of the Nivkhs. In addition to summarizing literary sources, the author studied extensive museum material, mainly cult images and ritual objects, and also conducted the necessary field research among the Lower Amur and Sakhalin Nivkhs. For the first time, a systematic essay on the cosmologized worldview of the Nivkhs is given. Mythologemes and various groups of beliefs are considered within the framework of the two-, three- and many-part scheme of the universe inherent in this culture. The presentation of a significant number of Nivkh myths is given. An extensive corpus of plastic images of spirits is also introduced into scientific circulation.
