The book is in solidly good condition, with little yellowing of the pages. The edges of the spine are slightly worn.

This book reproduces for the first time the first edition of the works of D.V. Venevitinov (1805-1827) in poetry and prose 1829-1831. The section ``Additions`` in this edition includes works that were not included in the first edition, the full text of poems that were published in incomplete form for censorship or other reasons, as well as letters from D. Venevitinov. All works that were attributed to Venevitinov, but whose ownership cannot be proven with certainty, are not published in the publication.

Dmitry Vladimirovich Venevitinov (September 14 (26), 1805, Moscow - March 15 (27), 1827, St. Petersburg) - Russian romantic poet, translator, prose writer, philosopher. In his literary activity he showed diverse talents and interests. He was not only a poet, but also a prose writer, wrote literary, programmatic and critical articles (his polemic with N.A. Polev over Chapter 1 of Pushkin’s “Eugene Onegin” is known), and translated prose works of German authors, including Goethe and Hoffmann. Venevitinov wrote only about 50 poems. Many of them, especially the later ones, are filled with deep philosophical meaning, which is a distinctive feature of the poet’s lyrics. The central theme of the last poems is the fate of the poet. The cult of the romantic poet-chosen one, highly elevated above the crowd and everyday life, is noticeable in them.
