For the first time, the book brings to the attention of the reader the Karaite historical chronicles from Chufut-Kale during the annexation of the Crimean peninsula to the Russian Empire. These texts, translated by the author from Hebrew, tell about the events of the conquest of the Crimea by Russian troops, and about the situation of the Karaite community in this turbulent era. They reflect the worldview, values ​​and history of the chroniclers, representatives of traditional Karaite culture before their communities were subjected to modernization processes. The author provides an overview of the history and culture of this community, comments on the chronicles, as well as a historical, cultural, literary and linguistic analysis of the chronicles. These works represent a special historiographic genre, still unexplored, - Karaite chronography, created during the 16th-19th centuries. in the Crimea and rediscovered by the author in the archives today.
