More info

The book is one of the first major works on the history of the Second World War, which describes the events in all theaters of operations and on all fronts in the period 1939-1945.
The author focuses on the war between Germany and the USSR, in detail analyzing the most important operations of the Soviet and Nazi troops, and sees the reasons for the defeat of Germany primarily in Hitler's many mistakes.
An assessment is also given of the activities of prominent state and military leaders of both sides.

Kurt von Tippelskrich (1891 - 1957) - infantry general of the German army. By the beginning of World War II, he headed the intelligence department of the General Staff of the Ground Forces. He was sent to the Eastern Front, first as commander of the 30th Infantry Division, then was appointed commander of the 12th Army Corps of the Center group, and, finally, commander of the 4th Army. Tippelskirch was later transferred to Western Europe, where he ended the war, surrendering to the British with the Vistula Army Group, which he commanded. At the Nuremberg trials, the general was declared a war criminal, but escaped trial, thanks to the patronage of the Americans and the British.

The book is intended for a wide range of readers.
Translated from German by N.A. Zakharchenko and L.K. Kamolova.
