The fables of Ivan Andreevich Krylov (1769–1844) have been familiar to everyone since childhood. Wise and poetic, they have long been recognized as classics of Russian literature and have so organically entered our lives and our language that they have become an integral part of our culture. Thanks to their aphorism, the apt expressions of the great fabulist are used in speech along with proverbs and sayings: “And the cart is still there,” “Sing, little light, don’t be ashamed,” “And Vaska listens and eats,” “And the little casket just opened.”.. .

In total, Krylov wrote 200 fables, combining them into 9 books. All of them are presented in this publication. In addition, fables not included in the collections are included here.
