First edition.

Paperback, 64 pages, very good condition. Format 19.5 x 14 cm. On pages 3-8 there is an article by the famous emigrant writer, poet and publisher Boris Filippov "Instead of a preface".

Pages 63-64 contain lists of books: “The following books have also been published under the editorship of B.A. Filippov and G.P. Struve” and “Preparing for publication.”

Printed in Munich (Germany) at I. Bashkirtsev's Printing House.

Starting from 1958, together with his friend A. D. Sinyavsky, Daniel began to secretly transmit his novels and stories to the West under the pseudonym Nikolai Arzhak. The story "Moscow Speaks" was first published in this edition and subsequently translated into different languages many times. When the KGB established authorship, both writers were arrested (Sinyavsky - September 8, Daniel - September 12, 1965) and put on trial. Daniel was accused of writing the stories "Moscow Speaks" and "Atonement", as well as the stories "Hands" and "The Man from MINAP". As a result, Daniel was sentenced to 5 years in camps under Article 70 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR “anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda” presented to him. Released in 1970 after serving his full term.

The story "Moscow Speaks" is written in the dystopian genre. Friends gathered for a birthday celebration hear on the radio the Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on the proclamation of the "Day of Open Murders". Everyone gets the right to freely kill their fellow citizens for a day. The decree is formulated in the form of a familiar stamp of all Soviet decrees: "in connection with the growing well-being, meeting the wishes of the broad masses of working people ...". The author created a picture of the absurd life of an absurd country.
