More info

The first full-fledged facsimile edition of two autographs by I. Stravinsky includes materials that allow us to trace both the history of the creation of both instrumentations and their further fate: the originals of "Songs about a Flea" by Mussorgsky and Beethoven (presumably in the form in which Stravinsky could work with them) ; a copy of the instrumentation of Mussorgsky's "Song" made for the premiere; music and documentary sources related to its intended publication; first editions of both scores. The range of musicological texts, traditional for modern facsimile publications, has been significantly expanded. The book is extensively illustrated. It is accompanied by a CD with recordings of "Songs about a Flea" by M. Mussorgsky and M. Mussorgsky-Stravinsky performed by F. Chaliapin. The publication is intended for professional musicians, as well as for everyone whose interests are connected with the Russian culture of the early 20th century, with outstanding composers and performers, with the artistic environment and musical life of St. Petersburg.
