More info
Pavel Nikolayevich Filonov entered Russian art on the eve of the First World War and immediately took a special place in it. Since 1932, when his works were shown for the last time in the Russian Museum at the exhibition dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the revolution, Filonov's work was excluded from the artistic life of the country for a long time. None of the leaders of the Russian avant-garde was subjected to such fierce persecution during their lifetime, and after death to global silence. In the history of Russian and Soviet art, as if there were no such artist, only the Filonov legend remained, orally transmitted by his students. The exhibition catalog presents paintings and drawings by Pavel Nikolayevich Filonov (1883 - 1941) from the collection of the State Russian Museum. The catalog also includes an autobiography, a chronicle of the life and work of the artist, major exhibitions and an index of works.
